NUMBERED NAIL-TO-NAIL SEQUENCE
String Art Generator with Steps

NUMBERED NAIL-TO-NAIL SEQUENCE
Build and Follow a Numbered Thread Sequence
Generate the pattern and the instructions together. The tool calculates every connection in order, so you can move from nail to nail without guessing which thread comes next.
Exported instructions are a plain TXT file you can keep open or print.
CONNECTION SEQUENCE
Step 1: Connect nail 0 with nail 147
Step 2: Connect nail 147 with nail 38
Step 3: Connect nail 38 with nail 211
Step 4: Connect nail 211 with nail 92
Step 5: Connect nail 92 with nail 264
…continue in the generated order
How to generate step-by-step string art instructions
The exported list is not a generic tutorial. It is calculated for your image, frame, pin count, and thread count.
- 1
Upload a high-contrast image
Simple shapes and portraits with a clean background give the algorithm stronger dark areas to follow.
- 2
Set the frame and nail count
Choose circle or square. More pins allow finer placement, but they also increase construction time and demand more accurate numbering.
- 3
Generate the optimized path
For each line, the algorithm evaluates possible next pins, selects the useful connection, and updates the image model before continuing.
- 4
Export and follow the connection steps
Download “Steps” as TXT. Label your physical nails from 0 upward, anchor the thread, and complete each connection in order.
A practical first-project setup
Frame
Circle
Easiest nail spacing
Pins
200–250
Enough detail to learn
Threads
2,500–4,000
Manageable first run
Opacity
0.08–0.12
Keeps detail visible
Before you start winding
- âś“ Number every nail in the same direction as the digital frame
- âś“ Save the PNG preview beside the TXT instructions
- âś“ Keep even thread tension across the board
- âś“ Mark your current step whenever you pause
If the sequence is too long
Regenerate with fewer threads. This shortens the connection list, but it also removes shading and fine detail. Try reducing the thread count by 20% at a time rather than cutting it in half.

Are the steps specific to my picture?
Yes. The tool creates the connection order from your uploaded image and selected settings.
How are the nails numbered?
The digital pins use zero-based numbering. Label the first physical nail 0 and continue around the frame in the same order.
Can I export the instructions?
Yes. Use the TXT export for the readable ordered sequence, JSON for technical pin and line data, and PNG for a visual reference.
Create your own numbered thread path
Upload an image, generate the design, then download the exact connection order.
