How to generate step-by-step string art instructions

The exported list is not a generic tutorial. It is calculated for your image, frame, pin count, and thread count.

    Upload a high-contrast image

    Simple shapes and portraits with a clean background give the algorithm stronger dark areas to follow.

    Set the frame and nail count

    Choose circle or square. More pins allow finer placement, but they also increase construction time and demand more accurate numbering.

    For each line, the algorithm evaluates possible next pins, selects the useful connection, and updates the image model before continuing.

    Download “Steps” as TXT. Label your physical nails from 0 upward, anchor the thread, and complete each connection in order.

If the sequence is too long

Regenerate with fewer threads. This shortens the connection list, but it also removes shading and fine detail. Try reducing the thread count by 20% at a time rather than cutting it in half.
