How to convert a photo to string art

1. Choose the portrait

Use a front-facing photo with one person, simple lighting, a plain background, and visible facial features. Crop close to the head and shoulders.

2. Upload the image

Open the generator, select the image, and choose a circle frame for a classic portrait composition or square for a full-frame crop.

3. Tune the detail

Start with 250–350 pins and 4,000–7,000 threads. Add threads when the eyes or face outline look incomplete; reduce them if shadows become muddy.
